On Monday, September 8th, at 1 p.m., thirty-three leading writers, scholars, and students, will assemble in the Ryan Lounge at UMass Boston to show support for Edward Snowden, the whistleblower who alerted the nation to National Security Administrations’s eavesdropping on US citizens. Participants include Pamela Painter, Christopher Lydon, Hester Kaplan, Richard Hoffman, Rajini Srikanth, and Alexandra Marshall.
Edward Snowden remains in limbo in Russia while waiting for either asylum in another country or a promise of amnesty from the United States. The event, one of dozens taking place around the world that day, is sponsored by the International Literature Festival in Berlin, the University of Massachusetts Boston MFA and Honors Programs, PEN-New England, The Suffolk University Poetry Project, CONSEQUENCE Magazine, and Agni.
